Muisbosskerm

Our Story

Edward Turner was the visionary behind Muisbosskerm; the restaurant began as a personal project to entertain family and friends. In the mid-1980s, he and his wife, Elmien, began hosting seafood gatherings for friends and family in a rustic beachside setting. This informal tradition evolved into a public dining experience in 1986, opening Muisbosskerm to the wider public, transforming it into a renowned open-air seafood restaurant symbolising authentic West Coast hospitality.

Edward passed away in 2012; but his legacy lives on through the active participation of the Turner family in the restaurant’s operations. His wife, Elmien Turner, remains engaged in the business, along with three of their children: Tertius, Ian, and Charlotte Turner. They are dedicated to maintaining the establishment’s authenticity and continuing its legacy through their daily involvement.

In July 2023, a significant fire damaged a large portion of the restaurant. Despite the setback, the Turner family expressed their determination by rebuilding and continuing their operations, highlighting their resilience and commitment to the community.

Today, Muisbosskerm remains a testament to the Turner family’s dedication to providing an authentic West Coast dining experience, deeply rooted in their heritage and family values.
